Bobby Mercer is an enigmatic man who claims his fierce belief in God kept him going through the apocalypse. He often instructs people to "repent of their sins" to be saved from the "infected" or tells them "God is on your side" if they survive. He tells people that what happened was an "act of God" akin to Noah's Ark, as the Earth needed to be washed clean of the sinners. Nicknamed "The Preacher" by other survivors, he aims to create a community of believers.

First Days[]
Bobby survived on his wits and mettle before making his way to the Northern Sanctuary. There he prayed for many of the souls there before running into a like-minded man named Heath Russell. Together they set out to gather supplies when Bobby was shot down by a bandit trying to rob them. Heath saved his life, carrying him to a hospital in the south. He returned the favor by saving Heath's life after he was sliced up. Their bond forged, they formed a crew together on September 22, 2023, along with survivors Sharon Simmons and Tommy Tompson.
Heath convinced their survival group to settle in the north at Sandy Shores, in an old trailer park community to the south of the lake, under the shade of tall pine trees. There they created a base of operations to hold out from the hoards of roaming "infected" people and bandits.
